Do I need my doctor to refer me to receive physical therapy treatment?

The short answer is no!

Individuals can go immediately to a physical therapy clinic of their choosing and receive the treatment they need, thanks to Direct Access regulations.

Direct Access allows you to see a physical therapist without needing a prescription or referral from a doctor. The only time you cannot participate in direct access is if you insurance requires a doctor referral or if you are involved in a workmans compensation claim.
